A fire near the railway tracks in Stevenage has led to significant disruption to train services passing through Cambridgeshire on Wednesday afternoon, October 9.

National Rail has warned of “major disruption” expected to last until the end of the day, with train services severely affected.

The fire has resulted in all lines being closed, with some trains facing cancellations, delays of up to 90 minutes, or revisions to their schedules.

Services impacted include Thameslink routes between Cambridge and London Kings Cross/Brighton, as well as between Peterborough and London Kings Cross/Horsham.

LNER services are also affected.

National Rail has advised Great Northern and Thameslink passengers to avoid travelling, as emergency services work to address the situation.
